Video of the Day
Today’s video is the new viral video from Old Spice. Tell us what you think? Do Arbitrage Men wear Old Spice?
Cufflinks… and Spongebob?
Cufflinks are a funny thing… Functional in purpose originally, they’ve evolved into what ties are: a way to add a little personality to your wardrobe when you have to dress up. Everyone’s got that little voice inside them that wants to be separate in some kind of way from the crowd and have their own identity. Conformist as someone may look, can you really be sure they don’t have on Spongebob boxer shorts underneath that crisp suit they’re sporting?
So if your wearing a beautiful white shirt with French cuffs, what’s a man to do? Well, it depends on what you want. Are you someone that likes and admires precision and technology? Then look for something with that kind of feel, something with sharp angles, some cool insert in it or any other details that resonates with what you like.
Or maybe you’re a guy that really likes no frills in your clothes and just can’t part with your favorite super well-worn jeans. Am I suggesting looking for a cufflink that’s also aged and falling apart? Maybe if it’s your grandpas sterling silver cufflinks he’s had for decades… But if you come from a family like mine whose heirlooms consist of a hand-me-down sweater, you have other options… Look for something that evokes that same feeling of vintage-ness and masculinity. Maybe a pair with inlayed wood would do the trick.
But you have to ask, are they really necessary? Couldn’t the shirt maker just add, say, a button, to avoid the fuss that goes along with wearing cufflinks? We actually thought the same thing so that why we came up with a solution: the American cufflink. You can still get the French cuff look without having to have a set of cufflinks on hand, which is particularly helpful when you have to roll your sleeves up. And if you want to put a cufflink through them, you’re still able to since the button is sewn at the very edge of a functional buttonhole.
So however you choose to rock your cuffs, have fun with it!
Slim Fit Dress Shirts: How to Chose One
Did you know many companies size medium dress shirt is cut in the torso 40 inch around?
Most men agree that fit is the most important factor when looking at whether or not to buy a button up shirt…
If that’s the case, then why is it such a challenge to find one that has the right proportions? I’d really like to see the man that some of these companies are using as their fit model… But some guys prefer the fluid, blouse look, so no judgements
However, most men (and women) prefer the look of clean, unbulky clothing.
Sometimes guys have gained a few pounds and think they can camouflage this by wearing looser fitting clothing…
Now let me ask you a serious question: how attractive is a woman wearing a moo moo?
The lady might be hiding her body, but she isn’t camouflaging a thing. On the contrary, it draws attention to her shape all the more.
It’s like a man insecure about his receding hairline and choosing to rock a toupee.
Enter the Slim Fit dress shirt.
Demanded by guys wanting to ditch the ballooning shirts of the 80’s, we started to see clothes cut closer to the body as men became more body conscious.
A slim fit dress shirt is going to do one of two things. It’ll show off your best features or, counterintuitively, have a SLIMMING effect on you.
But there’s a difference between a shirt being cut tight and being cut slim and it’s all in the proportions.

One option some guys go for is to get a made-to-measure shirt. This is particularly easy to find online where you can submit your own measurements and have a shirt custom-made to these specifications. However, the two main measurements used are often the distance around your neck and sleeve length.
But while some guys genuinely do have trouble with finding the right match of sleeve length and neck circumference, the issues with finding a well-fitting slim fit dress shirt usually have to deal with too much fabric in the sleeves, armhole and body.

So unless you can dictate to them these specifications or plan on taking the time to find and pay for a local tailor to give you exactly what you want, the only real way to get a great fitting dress shirt for your body is by trial and error and to see which brand cuts their shirts like how you want.
And truth be told, since all guys are different, there really isn’t a 100% perfect fit, if it isn’t made personally for you.
If you’re not getting it custom-made by a personal tailor that can respond to your exact preferences, you’re going to have to find a company that shares the same vision of how a man should look and gives you the perfect fit for how you want your shirt to fit.
While a lot technical skills go into getting a shirt to fit well, your best bet is to look at how important a company stresses the importance of the fit and test them out to see if what they say is true…
And remember what I said about slim fit shirts — They’re typically going to highlight your best features or have a slimming effect on you, provided the size is correct.

Laser Carved Pumpkin

Remember when you were a kid and that one neighbor of yours went totally crazy carving their pumpkins? You were cutting out your grinning jack-o-lantern with your pumpkin knife while they were tinkering with a tool that looked like it came from the dentist’s office on theirs…
Well, the art of pumpkin carving has been taken to the next level my friends.
One word: LASERS.
Beat that.
Lookin’ good even while being chased…
Living in New York City and not having a car has it’s pros and cons… To get around, you can take a taxi, subway … or run these guys!
